Fund launched to mark Year of Coasts and Waters

Scottish Natural Heritage has launched a new fund to celebrate the Year of Coasts and Waters. Plunge In! The Coasts and Waters Community Fund creates new opportunities for communities to connect with their coasts, seas and freshwaters.

The fund offers grants between £2,000 – £10,000 for a wide range of imaginative projects which engage people with Scotland’s coasts and waters. Examples of projects they could fund include:

  • Helping communities adapt to climate change
  • Sharing and preserving cultural traditions
  • Expand and improve community recording of the natural environment and/or wildlife

This is a competitive fund for projects starting from April 2020 and running until December 2020. The deadline for applications is 28 February 2020.

Nature Reserve Travel Grants of up to £500 are also available to allow groups of young people to connect with our coasts and waters by visiting one of Scotland’s many stunning national or local nature reserves.
