The Foundation makes donations to charities working in many different sectors including medical research, hospitals, education, organisations working with the young and aged, the handicapped and the under-privileged and arts organisations. So long as the object is charitable the Trustees will consider any application from a registered charity. They are particularly interested in applications from parts of Scotland where the local economy and/or circumstances make fundraising for charitable purposes difficult.

The Analytical Exchange programme offers free support to third sector organisations in Scotland around data, analysis, statistics and research. It does this by matching analysts working the Scottish public sector with third sector organisations needing help on very short sharp projects (up to 10 person days) where statistical or analytical skills could make a difference to their organisation. Individuals or small groups of public sector statisticians, economists or researchers then act as an analytical consultancy to solve problems in third sector organisations and would be delivered for free.
