Community Benefit is a well-established, integral part of onshore wind energy development, and represents a positive relationship between developers and communities. Muirden Energy provides community benefit funds to local communities that host their wind farms. They fund a wide range of community projects. Auchenbadie has a single 225kW turbine which generates £450 of Community Benefit annually.

Grants will support any aspect of sustainable development within communities in the Marr area. If they are related to larger schemes the grant can be used for project start-up costs or to help groups develop a project idea. The grant scheme also provides support, advice and help with the development of project aims and/or management. They have funded a wide range of projects including: transport initiatives, information directories, local communications networks, environmental improvement schemes, cultural and historical projects, and projects related to tourism.

This Fund is provided by Ventient Energy, the owner of the Gordonstown Wind Farm. The fund will benefit charities and community groups within each of the Auchterless, Inverkeithny & Fisherford Community Council and the Fyvie and Rothienorman Community Council areas. The Fund purpose is to support activity which will sustain and develop the life of the community and ensure that the area is an attractive and vibrant place to live, work and visit. The two Community Councils have agreed that the fund will be split 80% to Auchterless, Inverkeithny & Fisherford and 20% to Fyvie, Rothienorman and Monquhitter.

The Youth Scotland Rural Action Fund is a Micro Grant fund being supported by The Robertson Trust and The Gannochy Trust. This fund has been created in response to the challenges which rural youth groups are facing in funding the delivery of community based universal youth work. It will make small awards to enable youth groups operating in rural communities to provide more and/or better youth work opportunities for young people.

The North East Scotland Transport Partnership (Nestrans) operates a Sustainable Travel Grant Scheme (STGS) to support and encourage Travel Planning and increasing sustainable travel throughout the North East of Scotland. The scheme provides financial assistance to organisations investing in measures aimed at encouraging sustainable travel, such as increasing travel to work by public transport, cycling and walking, low emission vehicles and reducing the need to travel.

The Trust aims to aid the prevention or relief of poverty, by providing accommodation. Furthermore, it aims to 'relieve those in need by reason of age, ill health and disability by making available financial assistance for medical treatment, for suitable alternative accommodation or for providing assistance so that the individual in need may remain in his/her/their current accommodation, which might otherwise have been unsuitable'. The Trust will consider applications from men and married couples, as well as individual ladies. The Trust is also able to offer support and donations to other charitable organisations.
