The Trustees make grants in many different sectors, principally hospitals, schools and universities, organisations working with the handicapped, the underprivileged and the aged, but also to arts organisations. The policy of the Trustees is to make donations only to charities, rather than to individuals or to organisations that are not recognised charities. Grants totalled £1.6 million in 1998/99.
