The Trust declares its objectives to be:• The prevention or relief of poverty• The advancement of education• The advancement of religion• The advancement of health• The saving of lives• The advancement of citizenship or community development• The advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science• The advancement of public participation in sport• The provision of recreational facilities or the organization of recreational facilities with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended• The advancement of human rights, conflict resolution or reconciliation• The promotion of equality and diversity• The promotion of religious or racial harmony• The advancement of environmental protection or improvement• The relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage• The advancement of animal welfareWith the demise in recent years of the textile industry in the town of Langholm, Dumfries & Galloway and the subsequent economic, physical and social decline, the priority for the Trustees has been reversing this process through supporting regeneration projects and purposes. It was agreed that the Trust would take the lead in regenerating the town of Langholm, Dumfries & Galloway whenever the opportunity arose and that would be the Trusts focus of attention in the foreseeable future and the Trustees remain of that view.
