Their work to achieve this aim is focused on two main areas: - Connecting people: Supporting projects to help people reach their potential or which bring people together. Projects may be about overcoming barriers or promoting sustainable development to benefit communities experiencing social isolation or disadvantage. - Connecting planet: Funding projects to enable people to engage with and protect nature, or which support habitat and wildlife restoration. This supports wellbeing, builds community cohesion, and ensures wildlife and ecosystems can thrive for generations to come.

JCT supports projects overseas and makes grants for charitable purposes in four main areas of funding: population control, the natural environment, education and health. It does not support projects in the UK. They like to make grants which will make a difference and preference will be given to charities or projects which are having difficulty getting started, or raising funds from other sources. They tend to fund capital projects rather than running costs.
