British and Foreign School Society - Main Fund
Summary
The BFSS supports charitable organisations running UK and International projects to improve access to education or the quality of education for children and young people under the age of 25, from marginalised or low-income communities or, in the UK, those who have caring responsibilities or experience of living in care.
For UK based projects, they will only consider applications that are specifically targeted towards:
- Displaced young people
- Young carers
- Care experienced young people
Projects must be new interventions designed to improve their educational outcomes and life chances.
For internationally based projects, they support projects which seek to to improve the quality, sustainability, and access to education for young people within marginalised and vulnerable communities.

Who can apply
UK registered charities with an annual income of between £25,000 and £2.5 million, and at least three years of continuous accounts.
UK based and state funded schools, academies, colleges and other educational establishments regardless of their income size, providing they can demonstrate a network effect beyond one individual school.
Organisations should be directly involved in the provision of the project activities. They do not fund organisations whose primary purpose is fundraising.

When to apply
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with the Grants Committee meeting on a regular basis throughout the year.
How to apply
Submit a short Stage 1 application online via the Society's website. Shortlisted applicants will then be invited to submit a full Stage 2 application.
